Such is the life…

August 15, 2007

… of the Mommy of a potty training boy. Yesterday a group of friends went swimming in a friend’s pool. I’ve never had a problem with Aidan pooping in his swim trunks until, you got it, yesterday. Several ladies and even more kids were sitting on the pool steps when one momma says, “I think he’s poopy.” I’m looking around to see who has to change their kid’s diaper. She says it again, than says, “Eeeeewwwww!!!.” Everyone swims away till I realize the only one left is dear Aidan. With no diaper on at all. Just swim trunks. And a nice cloud around him. Great. Luckily I found a water hose and washed him down. Of course I had no extra shorts or diapers for him. Why should I? It’s never happened before. Such is the life…

…of the cool girl. During our nice swim yesterday, it was decided that I would be in charge of getting together the group for today. I told everyone that we’d meet at the same time at Kathy’s pool. My boys and I showed up to swim, each excited about hanging out with friends. That didn’t happen. We got the whole pool to ourselves for 2 hours. =) Such is the life…

…of a procrastinating person. (I couldn’t figure out how to spell procrastinator/procrastinater/procrap…whatever) I was sooo proud of myself for ordering Ryan’s birthday present 5 whole days in advance. Yesterday I got the email saying it’s ready to be picked up to be shipped. Today, the notice hasn’t changed. I’m starting to think I paid for a mailing label. Which, I suppose, would be a better gift than nothing. Such is the life…

…of the Mommy of a 1 yr old with no words. Trace is adorable! He has finally mastered the signs for “All Done” and “More”. He does great when he wants more, or is obviously finished, but there comes a time when I think he should be full, but I’m not sure. So I’ll ask him to show me the sign, right? “Do you want more, Trace?” (Trace smiles and shows me “more”) “Or are you all done, Trace?” (Trace smiles and shows me a big “all done”) This can go on and on till he’s laughing like crazy and I either shove more food on his plate or pull him out of the high chair so we’re done with the conversation. Such is the life…

…of a busy stay at home Mommy. I just realized I was thirsty, so I jumped up to run in the kitchen so I could get a drink of water and get back in here and finish typing before the boys wake from their naps. I immediately sliced my foot on a bed rail that we should have put in the attic long ago, hopped into the kitchen as quiet as possible, grabbed a paper towel to put on my bleeding foot, took the small swig of water that was left in my cup from lunch, stuck my foot under the faucet since it’s bleeding pretty good. I ran back toward the computer room and slipped on my wet foot. Now I’m sitting here with my knee up trying to get the bleeding to stop, and I’m still thirsty. Such is the life…

…of an anal, grammatical nerd. I’m grimmacing at the thought of pushing “Publish” with that huge runon sentence above left alone. Such is the life of…

…a child of God. I can sit here and know that even though my baby can’t talk, my 2 yr old poops in the pool, no human wants to come to my pool party, I can’t get a gift on time for my hubby, but backspace to correct errors so much my fingers hurt, and I’m probably going to bleed to death since I have more desire to finish this post than actually put a bandaid on my booboo, God knew this would happen and still chose me. Such is the life…

…of me. =)

Oops…

March 29, 2007

So Aidan got his 1st set of stitches 2 weeks ago. He fell off his spring horse…you know, like the old Wonder Horse…backwards and gashed the back of his head open on the tile step in our living room. Had he been riding it like it was made to be ridden, he may have prolonged the time till his 1st scar. But noooo…he needed to put his feet on top of the stirrups and jump up and down around in the saddle. Oops…

Then, this week he’s been driving me insane!!!!!!!! with his inability to act anything other than like a 2 year old. (Which btw, he is.) Now, he’s an exceptionally good speaker for his age and has a huge vocabulary, but lately, “Momma. Momma. Momma. Momma…” is about the only thing he can remember. (Well, not counting, “Mine” and “let Aidan do it!”) I called a friend to remind me why I should continue to take care of him, and we decided to take the kid to the dr to have his ears checked for infection. I was the happiest a mother’s ever been to find out her son has an ear infection! Something treatable! Hallelujiah! At least this time he didn’t go for 2 or 3 weeks before we caught the infection. Oops…

So I’ve been thinking (oops…) about a phrase I’ve heard over and over again in previous churches. “You need to know exactly what you believe and be able to defend it.” Now, on a very basic level (Jesus died and rose again, and by faith, through grace we will be reunited with Him) I agree. However; it’s often taken to a much greater level to a fault. The whole being of God is simply too big for us to comprehend. And when we claim to completely understand all of it together, we end up forcing biblical text to mean what we need it to mean. To, in essence, fit it into our own box of who we think God is. The more variations I’ve read on biblical interpretations, the less concrete answers I have for knowing exactly what I believe. Then, faith is all that’s left. =)

24 Starts Tonight!!!

January 14, 2007

I absolutely cannot wait!!! The only thing I’m worried about is getting the boys to bed. They go to bed at 7:30 (24 starts at 7.) That means we need to think of something for them to do for 30 minutes. Man, I sound like an awful parent! =) We don’t have a DVR, and I sure don’t want them to watch it. ugh! At the beginning of the last season they pretty much killed off my favorites. (Except Jack, of course.) I’m just waiting for Jack and Chloe to fall in love. =)

I hear we may get some ice here in the next few days. While I doubt there will be alot, I don’t want to chance it with the boys. That means I need to make a quick food menu and pick up some stuff to eat. I think chili sounds great!

I just looked at a Passion pic on Jason’s blog, and I saw Jerry Kerr! (If you know of him, you’re laughing.) =)

I just started rereading “A new Kind of Christian” by Brian McLaren. Yes, I’ve read it before, but so much of it went over my head, I thought I’d give it another shot. I love books that make you think. I also recently read “Velvet Elvis” by Rob Bell. That was a great book that was much easier to follow. you know, short sentences, short mono-syllabic words. =) In the last few years, I’ve wanted to question the thinking that’s being taught in a lot of churches, and these books pretty much freed me up to do that. Not doubting the truthfulness of the Bible, but the truthfulness of certain interpretations of it.

We had a great, simple conversation over dinner last night with some new friends. (Yes, Christians, and “prominent” in the church.) The husband put great words to what I’d been thinking. He said something along the line of, “When people [in our "becoming postmodern" culture] ask tough questions, they are way more OK with you saying, ‘I don’t know the answer,’ than you giving them a church sounding response that doesn’t really answer their question.”

Uh oh, baby woke up…Have a great one!

What a month!

January 13, 2007

Our motherboard died this week. Ugh! We’ve borrowed a laptop from the church. Thank goodness for WiFi! It’s still frustrating not having my own information to access. You know, budget stuff, email lists, etc. Luckily we bought a great warranty with our computer that doesn’t expire till next Dec. However, Circuit City was supposed to call us this week to set up a time to replace it. Who knows when they’ll call.

We still haven’t heard back from Reliant Energy about the investigation into our huge electricity bill. Dh called and was told it’s still under investigation and we’d get a letter. So that one’s way overdue, but we’re not paying it yet. Who knows when they’ll cut it off.

BTW, the handle broke on the driver’s side door of the Camry. So to get in you have to dig your fingers under what’s left of the handle. Ow! The Toyota dealership said it’d be $200 to fix it, but I think we can do it ourselves. It’s just a matter of getting around to it. =)

Aidan told me the other day for the first time that he loves me! He climbed into my lap, wrapped his arms around me, and said, “I Wuuuv Mommy!” =) He hasn’t done that before unprompted. He’s so funny! We’ve taught him that when he hears the smoke alarm going off (as it does almost every dinner time) to run to the front door so we can go outside. The only problem is he doesn’t distinguish the smoke alarm sound from the oven beeping or the coffee pot timer going off. So off he goes. =)

I’ve been playing tennis again this year. I hadn’t played since high school, but after a semester of once a week training, it’s slowly coming back to me…That is until I ate 2-3 lbs of Chex Mix over the holiday break. Now I feel like a slug swinging a stick.

Well, i think nap time’s almost over! I’m not sure when I’ll post next seeing that I have no computer to post from, possibly no electricity to use it with anyway, and no way to get into the car to drive to a computer. But at least that stupid smoke alarm works!

Wish my kid could do this.

Biggest Loser

December 14, 2006

So I just ate half a package of Oreos while watching the finale of this show.  Guess that makes me…The Biggest Loser. =)

Crossroads

December 12, 2006

Ummm, I seem to be at a crossroad…dh pointed out to me that I went from Santa poopin’ to sounding really intellectual with “Millenial Worship.” Since I probably can’t keep that intellecutal facade up too much longer, I suppose I’ll get back to making myself laugh. =) Besides, dh told me I can’t make his blog look bad. He’s the worship pastor, after all. Though it’s not my fault he just put a kid cannonballing into the baptistry on his. =) lmao!!!

Anyway, it’s 8:30 and I’m tired as usual, so I’ll go have some Oreos and go to bed so I’ll be good (I just spelled God=)) and ready to play tennis in the morning.

lmao= laughing my booty off… figure it out…=)

Speaking of Poopin’…..
