High School Reunion

October 8, 2007

My 10 yr reunion was this weekend. I had a great time! I really enjoyed some of my high school friends, though I’m glad I grew up. =) It was interesting seeing the different groups meet up again. Who shocked me the most were some of the girls I used to party with. You know the cheerleader type, pretty, popular girls. (Don’t know why they let me join them, but they did.) Anyway, I was shocked to find out that alot of them are not married! Most had great jobs in Los Angeles, Boston, and in between, but it made me realize how different our perception of success is. (And I had to laugh that they all got ready together at the same house. “Social central,” as one put it.) I guess I just assumed that all the pretty ones would be taken by now.

Sometimes I felt like I was back in high school/college. The “party” was moved from the football game to the Chili’s bar at halftime. I thought we would be getting to catch up on things, not get drunk together. Anyway, most of the people there were not drunk, and I did have a great time. Everything was put together sooo well! From the semi-formal dinner and dance to the moonwalk and the flowers on the table at the picnic. The host made everyone feel welcome.

OK, I’m sleepy. I guess that’s all.

so I don’t get in trouble for not posting

August 25, 2007

We went to the lake yesterday and had fun swimming. Then we went swimming again this morning at the pool. Aidan can swim several feet to me underwater without floaties on! I just have to help him up when he gets to me.
Ryan slipped in the shower and flipped up his toenail. Gross!!! I can’t wait to see him wear flip flops tomorrow morning on stage. =)
later.

Just in case….

August 13, 2007

anyone still has me on their RSS feed. Or whatever that thing’s called. =)
I just realized it’s been almost 5 months since I posted. What’s happened since then? Let’s see…

family reunion
Trace got ear tubes
brother got married
trip to Indiana just me and the boys and my mom and my dad and my sisters
Trace turned 1
stomach virus
trip to Mexico just me and Ryan

I probably could have posted individually on each of those, but I didn’t. BUT, my dear friend Allison just started blogging so I have to keep up with her. =)

I’m a nerd.

March 31, 2007

So I got some birthday bucks this week, and today my friend and I got rid of our kids and went clothes shopping! That’s the 1st time in a loooonnng time I’ve shopped for myself without them. I’d forgotten what it was like to go in a regular dressing room instead of needing the handicap room so the buggy (kids) will fit. I hate shopping, but this was nice since I had someone to help pick out clothes for me. I think I need to go on “What not to Wear.” I’m so bad at picking out cute things. Just buy me something that’s cute, and I’ll wear it. =)

I also stumbled across a new html riddle site. Ugh! I spent a few hours and got to level 6, but I think I’m not gonna go back till I have a whole week without kids. I suppose that’ll be at least 18 yrs. Probably more. =) I get soooo addicted to those riddles! Love ‘em!

I just wrote that I hate shopping and love solving riddles. I guess I’m a nerd.

Heroes!!!

March 1, 2007

I finally have some free time to sit and write something. Not that there’s nothing to do, I just don’t have screaming kids at the moment.

Anyone watching Heroes??? I got totally hooked on it when it started last fall. Of course it didn’t occur to me that it would continue into the spring at the same time as 24. So now we record one and stay up later to watch them both.
Anyway, Heroes is awesome!!! Here’re my thoughts. I think Lenderman or Hiro’s dad (whichever is actually the CEO of the “Company”) wants to be all powerful. Kinda like Sylar, but I think he’s just out on his own. The final power the CEO guy has to get is the Cheerleader’s ability to defeat death. Then he can literally rule the world. Maybe he and Sylar will have it out over the cheerleader and kill each other. It really makes sense with the whole “Save the cheerleader, save the world” thing. I still have no idea of the importance of Peter Petrelli. He just seems to be the protagonist (good guy) in the whole situation. You know, he can have the abilities the other guys are killing/hurting people for without being “bad.” Will it end up being him against the other 2? And we know he won’t die at the end since he can summon the cheerleader’s ability. Ummm, I had more, but since I’ve slept since then I can remember it all. =)

OK, baby needs put down for a nap. Gotta go. I’ll try to hop back on later.

CEO: Chief Executive Officer (Not really internet slang, but I haven’t been on enough lately to think in slang.)

24 Starts Tonight!!!

January 14, 2007

I absolutely cannot wait!!! The only thing I’m worried about is getting the boys to bed. They go to bed at 7:30 (24 starts at 7.) That means we need to think of something for them to do for 30 minutes. Man, I sound like an awful parent! =) We don’t have a DVR, and I sure don’t want them to watch it. ugh! At the beginning of the last season they pretty much killed off my favorites. (Except Jack, of course.) I’m just waiting for Jack and Chloe to fall in love. =)

I hear we may get some ice here in the next few days. While I doubt there will be alot, I don’t want to chance it with the boys. That means I need to make a quick food menu and pick up some stuff to eat. I think chili sounds great!

I just looked at a Passion pic on Jason’s blog, and I saw Jerry Kerr! (If you know of him, you’re laughing.) =)

I just started rereading “A new Kind of Christian” by Brian McLaren. Yes, I’ve read it before, but so much of it went over my head, I thought I’d give it another shot. I love books that make you think. I also recently read “Velvet Elvis” by Rob Bell. That was a great book that was much easier to follow. you know, short sentences, short mono-syllabic words. =) In the last few years, I’ve wanted to question the thinking that’s being taught in a lot of churches, and these books pretty much freed me up to do that. Not doubting the truthfulness of the Bible, but the truthfulness of certain interpretations of it.

We had a great, simple conversation over dinner last night with some new friends. (Yes, Christians, and “prominent” in the church.) The husband put great words to what I’d been thinking. He said something along the line of, “When people [in our "becoming postmodern" culture] ask tough questions, they are way more OK with you saying, ‘I don’t know the answer,’ than you giving them a church sounding response that doesn’t really answer their question.”

Uh oh, baby woke up…Have a great one!

What a month!

January 13, 2007

Our motherboard died this week. Ugh! We’ve borrowed a laptop from the church. Thank goodness for WiFi! It’s still frustrating not having my own information to access. You know, budget stuff, email lists, etc. Luckily we bought a great warranty with our computer that doesn’t expire till next Dec. However, Circuit City was supposed to call us this week to set up a time to replace it. Who knows when they’ll call.

We still haven’t heard back from Reliant Energy about the investigation into our huge electricity bill. Dh called and was told it’s still under investigation and we’d get a letter. So that one’s way overdue, but we’re not paying it yet. Who knows when they’ll cut it off.

BTW, the handle broke on the driver’s side door of the Camry. So to get in you have to dig your fingers under what’s left of the handle. Ow! The Toyota dealership said it’d be $200 to fix it, but I think we can do it ourselves. It’s just a matter of getting around to it. =)

Aidan told me the other day for the first time that he loves me! He climbed into my lap, wrapped his arms around me, and said, “I Wuuuv Mommy!” =) He hasn’t done that before unprompted. He’s so funny! We’ve taught him that when he hears the smoke alarm going off (as it does almost every dinner time) to run to the front door so we can go outside. The only problem is he doesn’t distinguish the smoke alarm sound from the oven beeping or the coffee pot timer going off. So off he goes. =)

I’ve been playing tennis again this year. I hadn’t played since high school, but after a semester of once a week training, it’s slowly coming back to me…That is until I ate 2-3 lbs of Chex Mix over the holiday break. Now I feel like a slug swinging a stick.

Well, i think nap time’s almost over! I’m not sure when I’ll post next seeing that I have no computer to post from, possibly no electricity to use it with anyway, and no way to get into the car to drive to a computer. But at least that stupid smoke alarm works!

So I’ve been painting…

January 8, 2007

I’ve spent alot of time lately painting the interior of our home. The whole living area and formal dining area (the other living/play area) were solid off-white. Ugh!!! Here’s the before and after of our fireplace.

(Picture this without paint and with crayon on the walls.)

Miscellaneous?

December 20, 2006

Ok, so I was told to write a new post.  Apparently there’s not enough to do out there on the internet, and someone’s still getting bored.  Justin, go check out that riddle site!  That’ll take care of you for a few days/weeks.  If they make you feel dumb, just call me.  I’ll help you out…That didn’t help, did it?

The only thing I can think of to write about are toddlers, babies, and Christmas which I think I’ve already done.

My electricity bill almost doubled this month!!!  We called to have them check it out since a new meter reader was installed recently.  They said maybe this reader is just faster than the old one.  Well, give me the old one back!   I didn’t ask them to switch them out in the 1st place!  That’s Reliant Energy for you.  So if anyone wants to contribute to the “light and heat the Finnerud home” fund, just let me know.  Or maybe I’ll sign up to be a Salvation Army bell ringer this week and make a negative donation.  =)

Don’t forget to “Join the Journey!!!”  www.gracebiblechurch.com  click on the Join the Journey banner.  Enjoy!

Biggest Loser

December 14, 2006

So I just ate half a package of Oreos while watching the finale of this show.  Guess that makes me…The Biggest Loser. =)
