So excited!

So I scheduled the big ultrasound today! It’s in less than 4 wks!!! I can’t wait to find out what the baby is! (Can you tell I’m excited? All the !!!!!!!!s) For those who don’t know, the due date is August 2nd. Trace will be 2 on July 26th (though he was due August 9th.) So they will be exactly 2 years apart. Aidan will be 3 1/2 by then. Aidan and his “favorite friend” tell me it’s a girl. He really wants a little sister…funny, that’s what we want, too! =)

Oh, and I’ve begun feeling a few tiny flutters! How fun! If only I would start feeling better.

Why I haven’t blogged…

The Golden Compass and God

I totally stole this post from someone else, though I have no idea who. Some one Ryan reads and had open on his desktop, but I don’t think we know him.

I know you’ve all heard the awful things about the Golden Compass movie and how apparently in the 3rd book/movie, the children kill God. Christians are in a rage about this, but I just have two comments…

1. It’s already been done.

2. It didn’t work.

Another step toward manhood

…for my son, I mean. I’m so proud, I just have to tell the world! He’s really getting big now! Aidan went to pee the other day (pardon my vulgarity), and he said, “I don’t need my step.” (The step stool he uses to “reach” the potty. He usually stands on it and puts both hands high on the raised lid.) Dh and I looked at each other, and said, “OK…” We peeked around the corner of the bathroom to make sure he didn’t hose down the walls, and he stood on his tiptoes, held his little guy, and…….. peed without any help from his step!

We’re sooo proud!

Picture Day

Today is picture day at mother’s day out. I put Aidan in a light blue buttoned shirt, and I must say he looked so handsome! No matter that I needed to dry him off with my hair dryer twice before school this morning. Once for playing in the sink, and once after I washed off the yogurt that he managed to get on his arms, knees, and the aforementioned shirt.

The boys are snotty and coughing today. I think they each woke up twice last night. And they were both up at 5:45 this morning! Ugh! Aidan occasionally wakes up before 6, but he’ll sit on the couch with me for a bit. Trace slept till 7:30 every morning before the time change, but lately it’s been 6:45, and that’s too early for him. So both up at 5:45 after not sleeping well the night before was a pain! We were not happy parents. =) In fact, I think I’ll go take a nap…

Behold the Lamb of God

Hey, if you don’t go to our church and haven’t heard………. We are performing Andrew Peterson’s “Behold the Lamb of God.” If you know me at all, you know I wouldn’t be promoting something that was your typical church Christmas musical/cantata. We took the boys to see Thomas the Tank Engine in a nearby town a few weeks ago. They had a blast! I was really worried that all the stuff would be geared toward older kids, but Aidan loved everything! I think every single thing there was perfect for an almost 3 year old boy. (And probably the next few ages, too.) The coolest thing was that it was all free!!! Free tattoos (temporary, of course), free balloon animals (or swords), free jump-on toys, free petting zoo, lots of free activities. The only thing that cost was food and drinks if you didn’t bring your own and of course the ride on Thomas, an actual 30 minute train ride down the state railroad. And those tickets were about $23 a pop, ages 2 and up! So technically you could spend the day there and not spend a dime, but good luck getting out of there without a ride on good old Thomas.

So I heard I’m supposed to post every day this month. Oops.

Real quick back to my last post re. literal bread at communion. Mimi had a great point, and I’ve since found flesh symbolized by actual bread all the way back in Genesis. I think it’s fun to explore these things!

OK, so much for a long post. I’m actually watching Allison’s kids right now. (A real good sitter, I know.) =) And they’re done with their before bed movie.

What if…?

Here’s one that may be simply answered by someone who knows much more about the Bible and biblical times than I.

When Jesus said, “This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.” (and likewise with the cup.) What if he was simply meaning to remember Him at every meal, which of course means constantly since someone like me is always eating. =)

or was He saying to remember Him in everything we do, keeping a pure heart when celebrating with the church (eating the bread and drinking of the cup…of Christ.) Like in 1Corinthians 11.

Just a side note: I’m not trying to point out a “wrong” of the church or change it in any way. I love some of the traditions like this, knowing that people have done it for so long. kwim? Just a thought I’ve had for a while.

Another Oops

This morning I was watching Good Morning America. (Playhouse Disney isn’t on this weekend!!!) They interviewed a man who just wrote a book about atheism. He was saying that we’d all be better off if no one believed in a god.
He said, (something like) “Tell me what believers have done for morals that non believers can’t do. I have yet to receive an answer for that.”
Then he follows with, “Now tell me some moral injustices that believers have done that non believers don’t do.”

I can sure think of some, and to him and all I’ve/we’ve wronged,

“I’m sorry from the bottom of my heart.”
